US medical company Hollister has announced an €80 million R&D investment and a digital transformation project that will create approximately 50 new jobs in Ballina.
The multimillion-euro investment aims to turn the Mayo plant into what the company has described as "a global epicentre of expertise through novel device design and extensive site-wide training, setting a benchmark for digital transformation within Hollister's global network".
The company, which has been operating in Ballina since 1976, now employs almost 1,000 people. The firm is looking to expand its workforce as it is currently recruiting in the areas of engineering, data science and business services.
"We are thrilled to announce this significant milestone for Hollister Incorporated," said Shane Caher, senior director of plant operations and general manager at Hollister.
"Our commitment to innovation and excellence continues to drive us forward, and this investment in our research program and digital transformation project is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team.
