Filtered water supplier Ice Water has taken one of the top prizes at the Annual Green Awards for its “innovative use of technology to replace bottled water” with filtered water.

Ice Water is a small company with five employees and was the smallest business shortlisted, but since foundation in 2016 it has significantly reduced the impact of single use plastics. Ice Water installations and bottle filling stations have cut the numbers of plastic bottles coming onto the Irish market by 15 million in 2019 alone, the company says.

Chief executive Peter Wynne said: “Ice Water is very proud to have collected the ‘Sustainable Water Achievement’ award at this year’s Green Awards.  As a small company, it is a hugely significant achievement for Ice Water to be recognised on a national scale for our commitment to sustainability. It is also an acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication of our team.”

Ice Water has installations in some of Ireland’s leading corporates and European HQ offices, with the potential to save more than tens of thousands of euro annually by replacing bottled water, including Twitter, Air BnB, PwC and Survey Monkey.

Launched in 2008, the Green Awards recognise the contribution and commitment that companies now make towards a greener future ion Ireland.##
