Iceland Ireland has announced the launch of its online shopping service for a selection of stores nationwide, with next-day delivery available on orders made before 7pm.

Almost 3,000 products will be available to shoppers online, and deliveries will be made in vans with temperature control technology within a radius of up to 15km from stores providing the service.

Online shopping will be made available at 10 stores in Dublin (Ballyfermot, Blanchardstown, Coolock, Finglas, and Tallaght), Cork (Midleton), Limerick, Kerry (Tralee), Waterford and Wexford.

"I speak for the entire team when I say we are delighted to provide our customers with this new online shopping service," said Ron Metcalfe, managing director of Iceland Ireland.

"We’re known for our everyday low prices and now Irish customers can shop online and get our full range at great prices delivered directly to their door. We are the frozen food specialists, but we are also so much more, stocking a range of grocery and chilled products as well.

"At Iceland Ireland we strive to provide our customers with a convenient shopping experience and the launch of our online delivery service is further evidence of this commitment."

Popular brands available at Iceland stores include TGI Friday's, Slimming World, Ed's Easy Diner, Harry Ramsden, and shoppers can avail of a €5 discount on their first shop using the promotional code 'SHOPS'.

According to its latest accounts, sales at Iceland Stores Ireland Ltd grew 9.2% to €66.1m in the 12 months to the end of March 2021, a year during which supermarkets saw revenues surge during the Covid-19 pandemic as essential retailers.

Iceland Ireland, which is a subsidiary of Iceland Foods Ltd, made an operating loss of €3.1m for the financial period and has lost some €14.3m since its foundation in late 2013. The company employed an average of 438 people between sales (414) and head office (24) during the year.

The likes of Dunnes Stores, SuperValu, and Tesco in Ireland offer their own home delivery service, but Dunnes, Tesco and Lidl also offer delivery through Buymie, while Aldi offers click-and-collect services and deliveries through Deliveroo.
