Catheter designer and manufacturer ICS Medical Devices will move to a new 16,000 sq ft facility in Galway, more than doubling the size of its operations in the area, in the hopes of continued growth and additional job opportunities.
The company works with medical device start-ups to develop niche and breakthrough catheter technologies for minimally invasive medicine, and it has built a global reputation for the design, development, and commercialisation of the catheters since its foundation three years ago.
We are delighted to be making this announcement today, particularly for our customers and staff,” said Seamus Fahey, CEO of ICS Medical Devices.
“It is three years since ICS Medical Devices was established and, since then, we have rapidly grown to a team of 60+ people with an extensive customer base across Ireland, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the US.
"This expansion will accelerate that success as we extend our capacity and services to serve a growing international customer base.”
As part of the expansion, ICS will add extensive general manufacturing space and an additional 2,200 sq ft in Class 8 cleanroom capacity as well as new technologies to support its catheter capabilities and a customer innovation centre. The new site will formally open in the autumn.
The company, which is part of Enterprise Ireland's High Potential Start-Up programme, also designs and develops access sheaths, balloon catheters, valve delivery systems, and stent delivery systems.
The success of our customers is the priority for the team at ICS Medical Devices” noted Fahey. “Our commitment to serving those customers over the last three years, deepening relationships, and delivering impactful results has created enormous opportunities for ICS Medical Devices across the global MedTech industry.
"This success has been delivered by an incredible team of talented, experienced, and results-driven engineers. Combining our customer-first focus with the skills of our team has yielded the growth opportunities that led to this expansion announcement.”
Accounts for the financial year ending last June show the ICS, which is currently based at Ballybrit Business Park in Galway, made a profit of €443,678 in 2020-21 after more than doubling its number of staff from six to 18.
