Irish-owned telecommunications service provider IP Telecom will become the title sponsor of the Tech Excellence Awards after agreeing a three-year deal with organisers TechCentral.ie.
The awards, which recognise prestigious achievements, skills, innovation and determination in the technology business will take place at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire on 25 May.
IP Telecom will also sponsor the Person of the Year Award, one of 23 categories at the event.
The award will be presented by IP Telecom CEO Shena Brien. Previous winners include Version 1’s Tom O’Connor and Fastrack to Information Technology CEO Peter Davitt.
Shena Brien commented: "While the global tech sector and indeed Ireland's has faced challenges in recent months, there is much to be excited about, as innovation remains prevalent. It is more important now than ever to celebrate significant technical advancements in the sector and spotlight its people in order to keep morale and motivation high.
"We are thrilled by the excitement preceding the Tech Excellence Awards and encourage all those in the IT industry to apply for this important recognition.”
Rory Whelan, head of marketing at IP Telecom, added: “In a year, where attention has previously been focused on multinational tech firms headquartered here, the role of indigenous companies in fostering success has come to the fore.
"Being part of the thriving, innovative tech ecosystem in Ireland is about recognising and celebrating the people and achievements of the sector and we at IP Telecom are delighted to become a larger part of the Tech Excellence awards.”
Brien and technical director Brian Chamberlain founded IP Telecom in 2010, and the company has built a client base across the tech, IoT, education, transportation and logistics, retail and agriculture sectors.
IP Telecom offers customers a vendor-neutral B2B network, and it has developed its own cloud-based telephone system to improve call quality, customer service and technical consultancy.
Clients include international workware brands Portwest, Repak, Decathlon, DID Electrical, Gouldings Chemicals, Right Price Tiles, Barnardos and the Irish Cancer Society.
