Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available in Ireland beginning October 9. Apple has already sold more than 13 million iPhone 6s and 6s Plus models since the initial launch three days ago.

iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus expand on iPhone technology with 3D Touch, which senses how deeply you press the display, aimed to make essential tasks quicker and simpler.

They also introduce Live Photos, which "bring still images to life" — The Verge says to "think of it as a something between automatic GIFs and short video clips".

“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.”

The release of the iPhone 6 in 2014 was met with the "Bendgate" trend, brought on by the phones' tendency to bend over time:

Apple has responded in its new phones' designs by giving the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus the strongest glass on any smartphone and 7000 series aluminium, the same alloy used in the aerospace industry.

iOS 9, the newest operating system for iPhone, includes improved Siri features and proactive assistance. The new iPhones have tweaked their built-in apps with a redesigned Notes app, detailed transit information in Maps (though this is not available in Ireland) and a new News app (whose availability varies depending on country). Software updates for iOS 9 require less space to install and advanced security features to further protect devices.

In Ireland, the new iPhones are available through Three, Meteor and Vodafone and additional carriers, and select Apple authorised resellers.
