Irish exports reached €20.5bn in November up 28% on the same time last year

Irish exports in November were €20.5bn, making it the third month in a row where exports have exceeded €20bn.

Unadjusted goods exports were €20.5bn in November 2024, an increase of 28% on exports compared with November 2023.

In fact, Ireland’s exports of goods have grown by 14% in the first 11 months of the year to over €207bn compared with the same period of 2023, CSO figures show.

In comparison, imports have fallen by €6.8bn in the period from January to November 2024 when compared with the first 11 months of 2023. Imports in November 2024 were €11.6bn, a decrease of 18% compared with November 2023.

Robert Purdue, Head of Dealing (Ireland) at global financial services firm Ebury, said: "The Irish trade data for November showcases a strong performance in goods exports, underscoring the resilience of Irish businesses.

"With robust demand from key trading partners, this momentum offers a solid base as we move into a pivotal year for trade.

“Talk of Ireland playing a prominent role in US-Europe trade negotiations, coupled with the prospect of favourable agreements with the incoming Trump administration, present an exciting opportunity for Irish exporters.

"Strengthening ties with one of Ireland’s largest trading partners could unlock new markets, drive export growth, and provide a major boost to the economy.

“However, global uncertainties remain. Geopolitical shifts, supply chain pressures, and currency volatility are all risks that could disrupt progress.

"To stay competitive, businesses should act decisively - hedging against FX fluctuations and building resilience into supply chains will be crucial for sustaining success in the year ahead."
