Logitech International has officially opened its new facility at City Gate Plaza in Cork.
The global provider of personal computer, tablet, and mobile accessories employs 300 people in Ireland and 8,200 globally.
Mary Buckley, interim CEO at IDA Ireland, said: “The ambition of Logitech speaks directly to IDA Ireland’s sustainability pillar which is at the heart of its 2021 – 2024 strategy.”
Time magazine’s recent annual list of Best Inventions included the Logitech Logi Dock, an all-in-one docking station with meeting controls and speakerphone.
Users can join Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and other video conferences with one touch, mute their audio and video, listen to music, and connect their peripherals.
“Logi Dock is the innovation that no one asked for but everyone needs,” says Scott Wharton, GM of Logitech B2B.
“When the pandemic hit, we spent an incredible amount of time with our end users to understand their needs and pain points in a work-from-home world. The result was Logi Dock.
“Now, as hybrid and remote work becomes the norm, Logi Dock not only improves the work-from-home experience for employees, but makes it easier for IT managers who are overwhelmed by provisioning, troubleshooting, and managing thousands of different setups from afar.”
In the July to September 2022 quarter, Logitech’s sales declined 12% year-on-year to $1.15 billion, reflecting “a challenging macroeconomic environment”, according to the company.
“As we enter the holiday season we continue to drive innovation, announcing more than 20 products which tap into the long-term trends of hybrid work, video everywhere, gaming and digital content creation,” said Bracken Darrell, Logitech president and CEO.
“In the face of global macroeconomic headwinds we will continue to pursue operational excellence and deliver industry leading innovation.”
In the latest quarter, sales of business oriented webcams were down more than 30% year-on-year, though video conference room cameras and peripherals grew by c.30%.
Consumer webcam sales declined 33% from pandemic highs, though Logitech said it grew market share in the category.
Sales in the EMEA region decreased by 16% in the July to September period. Strong double digit growth from video collaboration helped partially offset declines in music, gaming, webcams, keyboards and combos.
