Two Maynooth University students secured internships with law firm Matheson, following a recent competition organised by the company.
Students Ronan Califf from Louth and Shane O’Callaghan from Cork were selected as joint winners for the financial services law internship.
The students won their awards their output in a new funds law module, which is taught as a collaboration between Maynooth University and Matheson, combined with a competitive interview process.
Tara Doyle, head of investment funds with Matheson, said that the two winners competed for the legal writing prize and also a six-month internship at Matheson, working with the firm’s asset management and investment funds group.
She added: “Partnerships such as this between academia and industry are vital to develop Irish university students’ expertise and employment prospects, and to give them the skills necessary to succeed in the Irish international financial services sector.”
