Small and medium sized solicitors firms have come together nationally to better compete locally and regionally for personal, corporate and state legal work.

Forty-five founding members have created the National Solicitors Alliance which they intend will grow to 100 legal firms, with representation in all cities and larger towns.

Spokesman Brian Cunneen said the NSA will coordinate public procurement and large client work from its head office, and it will provide support services to its members — who will retain their separate identities.

“The concept is simple – we are combining the local knowledge and expertise of our member firms with a national network, to empower small and medium sized firms to compete on a larger scale for personal, corporate, and state legal services," Cunneen added.

“The alliance has member firms throughout the country. We have the unique combination of ‘boots on the ground’ throughout the country combined with invaluable local knowledge and experience.

“Clients of alliance members can range from an individual looking to identify the right solicitor firm for their issue, or a large corporate client or a regional or national state purchaser needing local expertise to match their business and legal needs."

The existing 45 member firms include more than 150 solicitors in 50-plus offices, and Cunneen said the NSA would limit membership to 100 firms to reflect a regional balance.

“Alliance member firms typically have a lower cost base than larger firms,” he added. “Its member firms are dynamic and responsive. Our members have the scale, skills and national coverage required to allow them to provide better value legal services with the local personal touch.”

The Commercial Law solicitors in Dublin that have signed up to the Alliance are Acton Solicitors, Brady Kilroy Solicitors, Cathal N Young O'Reilly & Co, Crowley Millar, David Walley & Co, Dermot McNamara & Co, Flanagan Solicitors, Frank Ward & Co, Hughes & Associates, Maurice Leahy Wade, O'Malley Cunneen & McCarthy, Seamus Maguire & Co, Sheridan Quinn Solicitors, and William J Brennan & Co.
