Irish cleantech company Peregrine Technologies has announced it will add 20 jobs over the next 12 months after being approved for investment of €17.7m as part of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator.
The Limerick-based company has created an AI technology for the sustainable and profitable recycling of flat screens. FPD PRO is a fully automated, low-cost robotic recycling system.
The jobs announced will be within the company's FPD Recycling division in the areas of marketing, finance and data science, AI and automation engineering. FPD Recycling now has clients in the US and Europe.
Paudy O'Brien, CEO of Peregrine Technologies, said the firm's goal is to modernise the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) recycling industry and ensure that every flat screen is "seen a valuable commodity rather than a hazardous waste.”
"Our technology is developed, proven in the market and ready to scale globally. New customer wins in the US and Europe as well as our recent EIC Accelerator funding are driving our growth," he continued.
"The new cleantech high-level roles announced today will play a significant role as we scale internationally, update existing sites and develop additional technologies that drive the circular economy.”
“We are delighted to be in the 8% of companies to be funded under the EIC Accelerator. It’s a testament to our team and our vision. It also demonstrates the commercial nature of the Green Deal and the EU’s commitment to better recycling of WEEE, the fastest growing and most hazardous waste on the planet.”
Founded in 2018 by O'Brien and Gary Moloney, Peregrine is headquartered at UL's Nexus Innovation Centre and is a member of Irish Manufacturing Research and CIRCULÉIRE, the national platform for circular manufacturing.
Accounts for 2021 show Peregrine Technologies (Holdings) Ltd held net assets of €3.7m after making a loss of €751,000 last year. The company employs five people.
