Residential developer Quintain Ireland has appointed Niall O'Buachalla as chief financial officer.

O'Buachalla has more than 23 years' experience in real estate finance across both the residential and commercial sectors and various ownership structures, including privately-owned, listed, private equity, and family-owned organisations.

He joins Quintain from the McGarrell Reilly Group, where he also served as CFO. He was previously CFO of Green REIT from 2014 to 2019 prior to its acquisition by Henderson Park, and he stayed with the private equity real estate group until 2021.

O'Buachalla started his career with Arthur Andersen in Dublin and has also held CFO roles with Treasury Holdings and Burlington Real Estate. He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from UCD and is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

“I am delighted to join Quintain at such an exciting time in its growth journey. I look forward to contributing to the company's continued success and working closely with [CEO Michael Hynes] and the team to deliver on our ambitious development goals," said O'Buachalla.

"With a strong pipeline and strategic focus on high-quality residential projects, Quintain is well-positioned to help address the critical housing need in Ireland and deliver sustainable and well-served communities.”

He will assume the role of CFO of Quintain Ireland immediately and work from the company's Dublin office.

His appointment comes shortly after the company secured new investment from San Francisco-based asset management firm TPG Real Estate.

“We are thrilled to have Niall join our executive team. His financial expertise, industry experience and strategic insight will be invaluable as we continue to deliver high-quality developments and seek to double our housing output to 1,500 units a year," said Hynes.
