Ronan Group Real Estate has held a topping-out ceremony for the new European headquarters of Citi at the Waterfront South Central development in Dublin's North Quays.

The event marked the development reaching its highest point above ground.

The building comprises 12 storeys and includes a triple basement, and it will offer 459,000 sq ft of commercial space when it is completed next year.

Citibank Europe CEO Nacho Gutiérrez-Orrantia, Citi Ireland head Davinia Conlan and RGRE chair Johnny Ronan, CEO Rory Williams and CIO Aidan Gavin attended the ceremony.

“Today marks a significant milestone in the development of Citi’s new European headquarters in Dublin," said Gutiérrez-Orrantia.

Business Bulletin

"This state-of-the-art new building at Waterfront South Central will serve as a dynamic space that fosters innovation, collaboration and growth for years to come and underlines the depth of our commitment to Ireland, to Europe and to our people and clients.”

Conlan added: “This year, Citi is proud to celebrate 60 years in Ireland, and as we mark this milestone in the journey to completion of our new building, we look forward to the next 60 years here serving our global client base from Dublin."

Williams said that Waterfront South Central will be "a jewel of the Docklands with Citi’s striking design at one end and a 25-storey residential tower at the other overlooking the Liffey as it flows into Dublin Bay.”

The development is targeting a LEED v4 Platinum green building rating, a Wiredscore platinum rating for the building’s digital capabilities and WELL Platinum for its interiors & base building, certifying a healthy and productive workplace.

It is also aiming for the Zero Carbon certification and a Building Energy Rating of A3.

The building will be heated by a HVAC heat pump system and will be equipped with a rainwater harvesting system to reduce water usage, along with water-efficient sanitary fittings.
