Skillnet Ireland has introduced a new programme aimed at filling the increasing demand for skilled wind energy workers.

Green Tech Skillnet will provide technician education for the sector and is aimed at people with electrical, mechanical or engineering backgrounds, and results in certification as a wind turbine technician when successfully completed.

The course is delivered in two stages, the first phase being in person technical training, followed by an industry placement.

Green Tech Skillnet is a business network for companies in the renewable energy and green technology sectors, which work collaboratively to share best practices and to respond effectively to the specific skills needs of the sector.

It is promoted by Wind Energy Ireland, the representative body for the industry, working to promote wind energy as an essential, economical and environmentally friendly part of the country’s low-carbon energy future.
