Glanbia's sustainability strategy outlines ambitious goals across three priority areas – carbon, waste and water. Aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the strategy also commits to Science Based Targets.

It is underpinned by the scientific analysis to ensure that Glanbia meets the levels of decarbonisation called for in the Paris Agreement.

Glanbia is a global nutrition group dedicated to delivering better nutrition for every step of life’s journey. We have along, rich heritage that dates all the way back to the early 1900s when the purpose of the company was to deliver a brighter future for the communities in which it operated by adding value to their farm produce. Our purpose today is not far removed from this. Now more than ever, we understand that a desire for a brighter future is still a driving force for the consumers, customers, suppliers and communities, we serve.

Sustainability and protecting our planet is at the core of everything we do. We understand that we need to nourish the population but do so while protecting our planet. Sustainability means meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. We believe in working for the good of our business, people and planet together, every day.

Pure Food + Pure Planet

Glanbia is committed to a meaningful Sustainability Strategy – Pure Food + Pure Planet - which pledges to achieve a 31% reduction in carbon emissions at our manufacturing sites by 2030 (scope 1&2 ) and to reduce carbon intensity by 25% in our dairy supply chain by 2030 (scope 3). We are also targeting water and waste reduction as part of our strategy, committing to a 50% reduction in food waste by 2030 and to achieving zero waste to landfill status at all our sites by 2025.

In addition, we’re committing to all consumer packaging materials being 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2030. We have linked our strategy to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, aligning with eight strategic SDGs.Our targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as consistent with levels required to meet the goals of the Paris agreement.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive culture and we continue to lay solid foundations to bring our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion strategy to life. Our vision is to advance a culture where ‘We celebrate individuality knowing that together we are more’. In the past year, we’ve created a framework for our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and the first of our ERGs have been established, including Network of Women (NOW) and our LGBTQ+ ERG, True Colours.
