KPMG recently announced its title sponsorship of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open for the next three years. The firm’s support will help to ensure the long overdue return of the tournament after a 10-year break. As long-term supporters of both women’s sport and golf in Ireland, KPMG is very proud to bring it back to its rightful place on the sporting calendar. KPMG’s 3-year agreement supports the firm’s long-term commitment to the development, advancement, and empowerment of women’s sport in Ireland.
The tournament, which is returning to the Ladies European Tour schedule, will take place at the fabulous Dromoland Castle course in Co. Clare from Thursday, 22 September, to Sunday, 25 September 2022.
KPMG’s Commitment to Women in Sports
This announcement builds on KPMG’s previous support of the 20x20 campaign and its aims of promoting women in sport. It complements the firm’s ongoing sponsorship of Irish golfer Leona Maguire, Irish jockey Rachael Blackmore and the Dublin Ladies Gaelic football team, and reinforces KPMG’s ambition to help create #LevelGround between men and women’s sport in Ireland.
“We’re thrilled to announce KPMG as the title sponsor of the Women’s Irish Open ahead of its historic return to the LET tour in September,” said Seamus Hand, Managing Partner of KPMG in Ireland. “We are incredibly proud of our history in supporting both the game of golf as well as women’s sport in Ireland, and we look forward to building our relationship with both over the coming years.”
KPMG’s Golf Heritage
In addition to KPMG’s support of women’s sport in Ireland, the firm also works to help inspire greatness amongst golfers at both the grassroots and in the professional game. KPMG has a long and proud heritage in the game of golf, both in Ireland and abroad, having been title sponsor of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship since 2015, one of five majors in the women’s golf which took place in late June in Maryland, USA. The tournament had a total purse of $9 million, a 300% increase on the total purse prior to KPMG’s sponsorship of the event, with the winner receiving $1.35 million.
In Ireland, KPMG is also the title sponsor of the Irish Kids Golf Tour, which is open to girls and boys aged 6 to 13 years old and features some of the best young golfers in Ireland. Irish professional golfer, Leona Maguire, has been a KPMG ambassador since she turned professional in 2018 and the firm is committed to supporting her as she progresses to the next stages of her career.
