ByrneLooby Makes UK Acquisition

ByrneLooby, the consulting engineering practice, has acquired TerraConsult, a specialist practice in the UK. Consideration was not disclosed.

TerraConsult specialises in waste management consultancy, environmental engineering and earth sciences. Employing 45 staff, the company is based in St Helen’s and has offices in Colchester and Leeds.

John Byrne (pictured), group managing director, commented: “This is an exciting development for both ByrneLooby and TerraConsult. Our combined strength brings great new opportunities, allowing us to provide a much-enhanced offering for our clients.

“Combining our skills and resources opens important markets and sectors across the UK, Ireland and the Middle East and we look forward to targeting these opportunities together.”

ByrneLooby specialises in geotechnical, environmental, marine, water, infrastructure and civil engineering along with building design and conservation. The company employs 150 people across offices in Ireland, the UK and in the Middle East.

In the UK the company has worked on projects such as the London Shard, the London Gateway, the Cross-Rail project, 22 Bishopsgate, the Royal Mint Garden’s and Wood Wharf.

TerraConsult Ltd booked a net profit of £460,000 in the year to end April 2018. Year-end trade debtors were £1.4m, up from £990,000, and period-end liabilities amounted to £800,000. The company's net worth in April 2018 was £1.1 million.

Funding for the deal was provided by Bank of Ireland.
