The Rose of Tralee hasn’t been crowned and it’s a fortnight before the roads clog up again as children return to school. That hasn’t stopped department store chain Brown Thomas unveiling dedicated Christmas sections at its shops in Dublin, Cork and Limerick.

On sale are festive offerings of Christmas trees, decorations and gift ideas. BT managing director Stephen Sealey claimed: “The Christmas Market opens now due to customer demand. We find there is a positive response from shoppers, with trees and some decorations selling out as early as October. In August last year, 3,000 units of Christmas decorations sold within the first three days of opening the Christmas Market.”

Group buyer Edel Woods added: “This year we are very excited to announce that we have developed an exclusive Brown Thomas collection of luxurious embellished decorations.  This bespoke collection will include beautiful hanging stars, bejewelled baubles, glittering pinecones and sparkling poinsettias.”

The buyers have curated the offer into themes including ‘Venetian Chic’, ‘Winter Palace’, ‘Yule Tide’, ‘Nutcracker Suite’ and ‘Novelty and Collectables’. Products are also available online at brownthomas.com.
