A new stateside organisation that claims to have developed “a scientifically valid definition of ‘purpose’” as it applies to the ideal employee is coming to Ireland to reinvigorate the workforce.
The US organisation, called Imperative, is focused on providing a career development platform that identifies purpose-driven employees. The idea is that having a sense of purpose makes you care about the things you do, including the job you work in.
A more in-depth explanation of Imperative’s ‘purposeful’ employee manifesto will be proffered in Dublin on March 2, via the Purpose@Work summit.
The free – but invitation-only – event for senior Irish business leaders will take place in the Stephen’s Green Hibernian Club on Wednesday, March 2.
Georgina Corscadden, director of Imperative in Ireland, said that ‘purpose’-driven employees are in high demand, as they tend to look beyond wages and self-interest when working.
She added: “The science of Purpose at Work has powerful implications, enabling us to help Irish organisations attract, develop and retain purpose-oriented employees.”
Entrepreneur Arthur Woods (pictured), who co-founded Imperative in the US, said: “We have looked at what motivates people to go to work in the first place and how to help them reach their full potential. I am excited to learn more about the implications of this in Ireland.”
At the Dublin Summit delegates will hear short presentations from several speakers, later collaborating to develop new approaches to employment in Ireland.
