Dun Laoghaire-based healthcare startup Letsgetchecked won the Future Health Summit Innovator Award, which was presented at this year’s Future Health Summit last week.

The Letsgetchecked team was presented with the win by Karen Walsh of Hermitage Medical Clinic, the award’s sponsor, on the final day of the two-day event, held at Dublin’s Citywest Convention Centre on May 26 and 27.

The annual Future Health Summit Innovator Award, now in its third year, is given to an emerging business that successfully integrates technology into their mission to improve healthcare quality in Ireland.

Screening Kits

Letsgetchecked provides discreet, speedy delivery of in-home screening kits for cancer and sexually transmitted infections.

Kits are ordered online and test samples can then be mailed to one of LetsGetChecked’s accredited laboratories, with results posted on a secure online portal within two days. If the results are positive, a member of the company’s nursing support team will provide a same-day consultation.

Letsgetchecked impressed the award judging panel, which included Rory Goodbody from Abbvie Ireland and John Bosworth of DENSO. The winning team gets the opportunity to speak at next year’s Future Health Summit, scheduled for May 24 and 25.

Aoife O’Reilly, business development manager with Letsgetchecked, said: “Receiving the Future Health Summit Innovator Award is an amazing validation of what we do. We are very grateful to the Future Health Summit and Hermitage Medical Clinic for giving us the opportunity to bring this service to a wider audience, including the leading clinicians and user groups at the event.

“We hope that the programme’s ease of use and speedy results will encourage more people to get tested regularly, so problems can be detected and treated as soon as possible.”

Previous winners of the award include Full Health Medical and TickerFit, who won in 2014 and 2015, respectively. Full Health Medical provides complete healthcare reports in an easy-to-read format, while TickerFit uses a cloud-based application to provide patients with personalised lifestyle interventions.

Privapath Diagnostics Limited, Letsgetchecked’s operating company, was formed in 2013 by Peter Foley.
