Meagher’s Pharmacy has added two new pharmacies to its Dublin chain with acquisitions in Dublin 7.
Kinvara Pharmacy in Kinvara Park, just off the Navan Road, originally opened in 1960. It has operated by David and Helen King since 1987. Currently employing a staff of ten, new owner Oonagh O’Hagan anticipates staffing at Kinvara Pharmacy will increase by six to eight new jobs in the coming year.
O’Hagan (pictured) anticipates that the latest Meagher’s Pharmacy outlet will achieve an annual turnover of over €2 million.
The second business deal has seen Meagher’s acquire a nine year licence to operate a pharmacy in the new Whitty Building at the Mater Hospital.
The 1,400 square foot pharmacy opened in 2014. The customer base includes patients being discharged, out-patient clinics, accident and emergency patients, and staff and visitors of the hospital, as well as the general public living in the area.
Meagher’s Pharmacy now has eight outlets and O’Hagan said she plans to double store numbers within the next five years.
“Our business model sets out to offer the service, range and value of a large chain, combined with the personal care and community focus of long-standing service providers,” said O’Hagan.
