Modular Automation, which supplies automation solutions for medical device and technology companies, has opened a €3m extension at its Shannon headquarters in Co Clare, marking 30 years in business.
The expansion comes as part of the company's growth plan, which also involved the opening of a subsidiary in Florida in 2015, and doubles the its footprint in Shannon to 50,000 sq. ft., including a new innovation centre and technology lab.
Modular Automation employs 110 people and has experienced significant growth over recent years. To support future growth, the company is seeking talented engineering staff, ranging from apprentices to junior and senior level engineering roles.

Investing in our facility in Shannon was an easy decision; our talented team and a high-quality innovative offering give us confidence that we will continue to win projects in Europe and the US.”
Modular Automation provides technically advanced turnkey automation solutions, as well as managing large integration projects. Its multinational client base includes many well-known brands. The firm has been recognised for the third year running as a ‘Best Managed Company’, in an award scheme which recognises indigenous Irish companies operating at high levels of business performance.

Modular Automation (Ireland) Ltd booked an operating profit of €2.1 million in the year to June 2015. The company made royalty payments during 2014/15 to Doqula Ltd, whose directors are Martin Dolan, Michael Lane and Shane Quilligan, who are also the sole directors of Modular Automation (Ireland) Ltd.
At year-end Doqula Ltd was owed €923,000 by Modular Automation. Doqula was wound up after declaring solvency in December 2015.
