How Much Do Data Roaming Bundles Cost?

Roaming charges for mobile calls have come down in Europe, but data roaming is still expensive. One way to limit data roaming costs is to buy a data bundle from providers such as WorldSIM.

To avail of their data bundles, you need to use one of their SIM cards in your mobile phone - a finnicky process - or else buy a portable WiFi device that hooks up with mobile phones and laptops. Alternatively, you can buy a USB dongle that plugs into a USB port.

You can check out the device options here.

WorldSIM offers bundles for Europe, UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Asia, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and global bundles that enable users to use data across 108 countries.

The cost of data roaming is illustrated by WorldSim's charges for data bundles across Europe: €8 for 100MB, €14 for 200MB, €32 for 500MB and €52 for 1GB.

Arif Reza of WorldSIM said: “The cost of using data when travelling is notoriously high, which results in many smartphone users turning their phone off or having to run around searching for free WiFi hotspots. With our new low data bundle rates, travellers browse the web as much as they do at home without having to worry about how much data they are using.”

With the Vodafone Red Business tariff (€55 a month), 200MB of roaming costs €3 a day, though there's no charge under a current promotion that runs to November 23. The charge per megabyte over bundle allowances is €1.23 per megabyte, so if your likely usage is over 200MB per day, having a supplemental package through a provider such as WorldSim is advisable .
