Dr. Nora Khaldi, founder of natural ingredients startup Nuritas, is one of the 10 winners of the most inspiring 'Ideas From Europe' with the potential to change the world.
The 'Ideas From Europe' contest included 25 speakers, each representing a member of the European Union. The speakers presented at 2015 SME Assembly in Luxembourg this week and were assessed by a jury, who chose the 10 most affecting speakers to present at the Knights Hall in The Hague on 31 March 2016.
Khaldi's speech centered around Nuritas' concept, which is to revolutionise the discovery of natural and scientifically proven active ingredients to help manage and enhance health.
The company uses artificial intelligence and DNA analysis to access the most health-benefiting components within foods called 'peptides'. Nuritas finds these ingredients and harnesses them to provide natural and sustainable health solutions.
Some health benefits of these ingredients include:
- reducing inflammation
- killing dangerous bacteria (e.g. MRSA)
- reducing muscle loss due to aging
- regulating blood glucose for Type 2 Diabetes
These ingredients can be added to existing food products, dietary supplements, cosmetics and medical foods to enhance wellness. Nuritas is currently in the process of commercialising these products.
The company recently secured a €2.9 million seed round led by Singapore-based VC New Protein Capital.
The 'Ideas From Europe' initiative is part of the Dutch EU presidency, which aims to showcase modern entrepreneurs as the future of Europe.
