Software firm SolarWinds won top prize at that Cork Company of the Year Awards, which were announced over at Cork Chamber’s annual dinner.
The awards, which are run by Cork Chamber, comprised four categories, including the 'Large Company Award', which was won by SolarWinds.
Other category winners included Technically Write IT, which came out on top in the 'Emerging Cork Company Award' category, and Xanadu Consultancy, which won the 'Cork SME Company Award'.
Winner of the special award category 'Cork Retail Company of the Year' was Vibes and Scribes, an independent Cork retailer offering books, crafting and wedding supplies, fabrics and wool.
Speaking at the announcement of the winners, Cork Chamber president Gillian Keating said that the awards recognise the achievements of companies operating at the top of their game.
She added: “Year after year, the entry levels get stronger and, in tandem with our partner Vodafone, and the committed panel of judges, we work to find the most innovative companies who deliver products and services that drive growth and create jobs regionally, nationally and internationally.
“Our finalists and winners are passionate, knowledgeable and driven to succeed and enhance the reputation of the region across the globe.”
Anne O'Leary, CEO of Vodafone Ireland, which sponsors the awards, added: “Every year I look forward to coming home for the annual dinner and I am delighted to again present the Cork Company of the Year Awards.
“This year more than ever, the calibre of participants is truly impressive and this event highlights the business talent we have in Cork.”
Accepting the award on behalf of SolarWinds, David Owens, SVP finance and operations, international, said that the firm was honoured by the chamber's recognition.
“The award reflects the tremendous effort and commitment of all of our employees and signifies a major milestone in our ongoing, long-term investment in Cork and the Cork community,” he added.
SolarWinds is a US software company that located its EMEA headquarters in Cork in 2007, where it employs over 140 staff.
Late last year, SolarWinds announced that it would be adding up to 100 new jobs to its Cork operation over the next two years. (February 2015)
