Tradesmen Urged To Get Online

Tradesmen who have a strong online presence win on average €25,000 more in additional revenue per year compared to those who are not online, according to figures compiled by OnlineTradesmen.ie.

The firm, Ireland's largest register of qualified tradesmen for home owners, surveyed over 4,500 tradesmen — which includes women — and found some interesting results.

Tradesmen with promoted websites win an average of 19 more jobs annually, and an online presence delivers an average of €25,000 in additional sales. This evidence should improve representation online, with more than half of Irish tradespeople (55%, according to the survey) having a ‘poor’ web presence or none at all.

OnlineTradesmen cited the perceived complexity of getting online and the supposed high cost as the main factors deterring tradespeople from taking the step.

CEO Ted Laverty said:  "Our figures show that tradesmen who embrace the web can grow their business significantly. We have seen proactive tradesmen grow their businesses even during the recession by optimising their online presence.

“A professional tradesman website with verified customer ratings not only reassures potential customers but attracts new sales. When done properly, a website can be as effective as word of mouth referrals for winning business.

"In 2016 there is really no excuse. Getting a website for your business is extremely easy — all you need it is an internet connection, a connected device and some time. As part of our service we provide Tradesmen members with a website wizard where they can get online in minutes.”
