Two new hotels will open in Dublin in the coming months, including the first Marlin Hotel for the city.

Irish-owned Marlin Group is one of London’s largest privately owned hospitality operators. It will open a 300-bed hotel on Bow Lane East in July, creating 110 new jobs.

The triangular-shaped €55m development is located behind St Stephen’s Green shopping centre and was designed by architects Cantrell Crowley.

Spanning 110,000 sq. ft, the hotel will include a self-service check-in desk, co-working areas, an indoor garden, outdoor terrace and a 24-hour gym. It will also have a coffee dock and bar.

Michelle O’Donoghue has been appointed general manager of the Marlin Hotel Dublin and returns to Ireland from Dubai, following six years at the Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers.  Prior to this O'Donoghue spent five years at Dublin’s Burlington Hotel, and previous to this five years at the 5 star Park Hotel Kenmare.

Doug Leddin has been appointed as Group Marketing Manager for Marlin.  His previous role was  Marketing Manager for the Connacht Hospitality Group in Galway.

Brian Clinton has been appointed as Food & Beverage Manager at Marlin Hotel Dublin.  Previously he worked as Front of House Manager at The Grand Hotel Malahide, General Manager at The Twelfth Lock Castleknock and General Manager of Slattery’s Public House Dublin.

Street Art Hotel

A new hotel in Smithfield is due to open its doors on May 27.

Situated on Hendrick Street, near Smithfield Square in Dublin 7, The Hendrick is describing itself as the first ‘street art hotel’ in Ireland.

The hotel was developed by The Dublin Loft Company, which is run by brothers Mark and Andrew Cosgrave. Sons of the late Peter Cosgrave, they have constructed two residential developments in Dublin, including Oxmanstown Lofts on Smithfield Square.

The Hendrick comprises 146 bedrooms, a ground-floor bar and an outdoor courtyard space. More than 270 works of Irish and international street art also feature in the hotel, some of which have been specially commissioned for it. The collection was curated by Irish street artist James Early.

A focal point in the hotel’s ground floor lobby and courtyard area will be the installation of a piece of street art from the Windmill Lane Recording Studios, signed by all members of U2 during one of their recording sessions.

Room rates for the Hendrick will start at €109 per night.
