Twitter has announced Twitter Blue for Business, billed as a new way for businesses and their affiliates to verify and distinguish themselves on the social network.

The company said Blue for Business is being piloted with a select group of businesses and in 2023 will be rolled out to businesses that wish to subscribe.

The company said that with a Twitter Blue for Business subscription, a company will be able to link any number of their affiliated individuals, businesses and brands to their account.

When they do, affiliated accounts will get a small badge of their parent company's profile picture next to their blue or gold checkmark.

The promise is to enable businesses to create networks on Twitter within their own organisations. Each affiliate will be verified and officially linked to their parent handle based on a list provided by the parent business.

On 12 December 2022, Twitter re-enabled Twitter Blue sign-ups for individuals on iOS and web. Twitter Blue subscribers have access to subscriber-only features such as Edit Tweet, 1080p video uploads and reader mode.

Subscribers also receive a blue checkmark after their accounts are reviewed to ensure they meet the platform’s requirements, including rules against impersonation.

Twitter Blue is priced at $8/month on web, and $11/month for those who sign up on iOS. The company said it plans to offer subscriptions on Android soon.

Subscribing to Twitter Blue is now available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The company cautioned that subscribers who change their profile information, including display name, profile photo, and username (@handle), will temporarily lose their blue checkmark until those changes are reviewed by Twitter.

Twitter has also introduced a gold checkmark on some business accounts.
