IT distributor DataSolutions saw its revenues increase to €98m during its latest financial year, ended March 2022, and has now more than doubled its turnover since 2019 (€47m) amid rapid growth in its portfolio of security solutions.
Sales in the company's cybersecurity and multi-cloud divisions have risen 43% over the past 12 months on the back of huge demand as its clients embrace hybrid working arrangements and bolster their cloud-based security.
The firm said it expects high demand to continue over the next 12 months after celebrating its best-ever quarter in July to September last year. DataSolutions now works with leading vendors, including Check Point, Citrix, ColorTokens, D3, HPE Aruba, IGEL, Lakeside, and Orca Security.
The company has also significantly reduced its CO2 emissions and carbon footprint over the period, lowering its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, as measured by the Location Based Method, by 33% and, as measured by the Market Based Method, by 75%.
DataSolutions relocated its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to the cloud, replaced its gas-burning heating system with an electric pump solution, and installed LED lighting and solar panels, in addition to moving to a green electricity supplier.
Staff commute emissions are down 60% as a result of its hybrid work strategy, which sees staff in the office just two days a week, and the company is aiming to reduce business air travel by 50% per year.
“It’s been a huge year for the business in terms of growth and we are now on the cusp of hitting €100 million. This success comes down to the hard work of the entire team and we look forward to continuing this throughout 2022," said Michael O'Hara, managing director of DataSolutions
“The past year also goes to prove that it is possible to be successful and sustainable. We made doubling the business and going carbon neutral key objectives, and I’m as proud of reducing our emissions as I am of increasing our profits.
“We have also extended these sustainability efforts beyond the four walls of the business, helping the technology sector as a whole to be greener. It’s my firm belief that until companies take reducing their carbon emissions seriously and act on it, it won’t happen.
"As I have, leaders need to realise that business and sustainability are not mutually exclusive, but mutually beneficial.”
The latest accounts for DataSolutions Holdings Ltd show the company made a total profit of €1.1m in the year to March 2021, up from €378,286 a year prior, despite turnover dipping to €68.4m from €74.3m. The firm employed 33 people last year.
