HealthBeacon, the health technology company that develops products for helping patients manage injectable medications at home, has announced it has added five clients so far this year, including the HSE and the UK's NHS.
The Dublin-founded company said it is focused on expanding its client base among pharmaceutical firms, pharmacies, healthcare organisations and governments following its IPO in December when it had a total of 18 clients.
In addition to the two programmes offered through the HSE and NHS, HealthBeacon has also signed up three pharmaceutical companies, who join the likes of Amryt, Novartis, Sanofi, Accord Healthcare, Clonmel Healthcare, Teva, Viatris, and AbbVie on its roster.
HealthBeacon's injection care management system tracks adherence and persistence with medication schedules through medication management reminders, sharps (needles, syringes and lancets) disposal devices, educational tools and AI-driven data analytics.
The company said peer-reviewed evidence supports a 19% improvement in therapy persistence by patients using its technology, improving clinical outcomes and efficiency in health systems.
"These new client wins add to the very significant momentum in the business as leading pharma companies and health systems adopt our technology. We are pleased to be working with some of the most high-profile and innovative global health organisations across our key markets," Jim Joyce, co-founder and CEO of HealthBeacon, said.
"The company's leading injectable medication management platform alongside its highly innovative patient services technology platform gives us leadership in all markets we serve. Unfortunately, one in two patients on chronic and critical self-administered injectable medications fail to initiate treatment or discontinue therapy within the first 12 months.
"HealthBeacon's technology and services support those patients and enhances their likelihood of success on these important medications, something that is increasingly recognised by many of the world's largest healthcare organisations."
HealthBeacon raised €25m with its IPO in December, and it announced last month that it had placed a build order for 35,000 of its Smart Sharp Bins to meet client demand.
The company -- which operates in 17 countries, employs more than 50 staff and has obtained over 30 design and utility patents -- has a short-term target of 100,000 patients using its injection care management system from a base of around 10,000 at the end of 2021.
