Storytelling app Steller.co and Tourism Ireland are getting together to create a ‘digital day in the life of Ireland’ which will use some of the most popular global ‘influencers’ to promote Ireland’s attractions for foreign visitors.
Steller — a contraction of story-teller — is a story-telling app which has surpassed 1.5 million downloads, and is designed to enable both travellers and travel providers to share their stories and content.
Tourism Ireland and Steller, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland and Tourism NI, have invited 28 of North America’s most popular travel influencers, who collectively have a following of more than 53 million, to visit Ireland.
On Sunday April 28 the influencers will set out around the island, tasked with creating multi-media stories for the Steller app. They will have exactly 24 hours to create their stories through video and photos.
The stories they create will be collated into a new collection on the Steller platform, A Digital Day in the Life of Ireland, revealing what 24 hours in Ireland has to offer for travellers everywhere.
The party includes actor Tom Skerritt, who is here to explore his Irish roots along with his son and daughter.
Skerritt said: “One of the 12 tribes of Galway was the Skerrit clan, so I am thrilled to seek my roots and report the stories of my own lineage using the Steller mobile app.”
Apart from setting up the day in the life collection, TI and Steller hosted an event for tourism professionals and businesses to show them how to craft stories on the Steller platform. It included demos on how to use the Steller tools to create stories with impact, with a team of Steller experts on hand.
According to Steller, half of people taking a summer holiday tap into social media, especially photos, for inspiration.
