Five new companies have taken up residence at the Digital Hub in the Liberties area of Dublin, which now houses 100 businesses active in digital media, technology and internet-related activities.

The five new tenants are AdScribe, Danal Mobile Services Ireland, Ink and Light, Optimal Workshop and PicMonkey.

Hub CEO Gerry Macken said: "The new companies have recognised Ireland as a key location within the EU, and have therefore set up their European base in Dublin. This trend is a reflection of our ongoing relationship with IDA Ireland.’’

• AdScribe offers two different products. Adscribe Audience is a cloud-based big data platform that facilitates the collection and analysis of TV viewing data across multiple devices. AdScribe Engage  is a platform that gives TV operators the tools required to create and operate an interactive advertising and promotions business.

• Danal Mobile Services Ireland, a mobile identity platform haiing from San Jose, offers financial institutions and major retailers mobile transaction risk management services and customer conversion solutions.

Ink and Light is a company specializing in producing animated and live-action television series for family audiences. Recently they produced a series for RTEjr and YLE (Finnish television) and are currently producing a CG animated comedy series called Harry & Bip.

• Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Optimal Workshop is a growing Saas business. • A photo editing and graphic design company headquartered in Seattle, PicMonkey offers creative tools that users of every experience level can access in their web browser. The company says there is no learning curve or downloading required to use the program. The website allows editing, touch up, design and collage options. They plan to release a mobile app for their services soon.

PicMonkey does not facilitate editing of RAW files but the interface  makes it easy to upload photos to social media websites through the browser, as well as enabling printable collage projects. Seen as an alternative to Adobe Photoshop. PicMonkey has a free option or a paid option that costs €6 a month.

The paid-for ‘Royale’ product has added benefits such as no ads, advanced touch up tools, over 1,100 graphic overlays, more effects and filters, premium fonts and the ability to edit from collage.
