Gamers Gaming

Japanese gaming giant Nintendo has announced that it sold more than 3.5 million units of its newly launched Switch 2 console within just four days of release, marking the fastest-selling hardware launch in the company's history.

The Switch 2, which officially hit the shelves on 5th June, is the successor to the hugely popular Nintendo Switch.

The Kyoto-based company is forecasting strong demand, predicting global sales of 15 million units in the current financial year, which runs until March 2026.

Doug Bowser, President and COO of Nintendo of America, commented: “Fans around the world are showing their enthusiasm for Nintendo Switch 2 as an upgraded way to play at home and on the go.”

Since the original Switch was introduced in 2017, Nintendo has sold over 152 million units globally.

The platform has been home to blockbuster titles such as The Legend of Zelda series and the lockdown favourite Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The second-generation console offers a familiar hybrid design but boasts a larger display and enhanced graphics capabilities.

It launched alongside new games, including Mario Kart World, catering to both long-time fans and new players alike.
